The SuspenDC suspension team invites you to experience the magik and exhilaration of flesh hooks in the safety of a community of like-minded seekers.  Our team of experienced practitioners put their skills to work helping each person to discover their unique adventure. Together with the local community, we aim to create a safe and supportive space to explore, discover, and fly!

What’s Happening? 

The adventure begins Friday night with a community hook pull. Supporters, drummers, and dancers come together in a joyous experience of dancing the body to awareness. We encourage dancers to show off their true self through costume, movement, and self exploration.

For those not ready to dance, we invite you to drum for the dancers. Live drumming creates a profound experience for the dancers. We bring drums to share and if you come early, we’ll teach you how to use them. (Truly, no prior experience required!)

Curious about what all this is about? Plan to come and watch! Your active, engaged presence supports both dancers and drummers.

Saturday the adventure continues!

First things first: let’s talk about how to get the most out of your flight. Starting at 10, come lean how to fly. Even if you are not ready to fly yet, knowing how to prepare and what to expect helps you to lay out your flight plan.

For those ready, time slots are available from noon till 6pm to work with the suspension team to get hooked and fly. Supporters and witnesses are welcome to watch this amazing experience.

During the day our team members will also offer a class on bloodborne pathogen safety, basic needle play in kink spaces, and demo the skills needed to play safely.

Saturday night, Marti Partis hosts Crave, Philly’s premiere queer play party (tickets available separately). We have one suspension planned at the party.

Sunday brings this weekend intensive to a close with a limited number of suspension spaces available for folks who want a quiet, more private space to fly. These flights are intended for folks looking to incorporate deeper ritual and personal elements into their suspension. Only flyers and their chosen supporters will be present for these flights.

This weekend event calls you out to challenge what you know about yourself and your limits. The team invites you to go beyond your comfort zone and take a leap of faith that breaks through boundaries and brings new awareness. We welcome you to a community of those who connect through rites of flesh and pleasure.

Who is the event for?

Flying in Philly creates a safe space for anyone interested in flesh hook suspensions and flesh hook pulls to witness and experience this transformational experience. Several options are available for participation. Each person chooses their path. The team is here to guide and support those who accept the challenge.

Who is putting this event on?

The suspension team from SuspenDC brings their skill, experience, and support to Flying in Philly. The team has been producing suspension events since 2007. This dedicated crew of kinksters works together to help people discover their power through the ancient rituals of flesh hooks. They support each flyer as an individual, meeting them wherever they are on their own journey, to create the experience that is right for them. Event Cost and Discounts

Entry ticket: $75 for all or part of the 3 day event. Entry tickets are available through EventBrite

Hook Pulls: $80.

Suspensions start at :$200.

Please contact the team directly to reserve your space for one of these two experiences once you have registered through EventBrite.

Discounts: participants can choose to take either $20 off a hook pull or $30 off a suspension at the event.

Drumming Basics

For those interested in supporting the dancers on Friday night, bring a drum or rattle (or grab one of ours!) and join the circle. If you don’t know how to drum, join us at 8pm for a down and dirty workshop on the basics of playing hand drums for ritual work.
This playshop experience introduces the basic techniques used in hand drumming and discusses how we play together to support dancers as they explore and experience their hooks. There are a limited number of drums and rattles available to share. If you have a drum or rattle, please bring it along and add to the rhythm.

Learning to Fly

Considering flying with our team or any other? Want to know how to get ready for the experience? This playshop distills the experience of the SuspenDC crew into useful tips and tricks for the new flyer. In our years of experience of supporting new flyers, we have seen the results of good and bad preparation. Flesh hook suspensions are an extreme experience. It takes a lot just to decide to face this challenge. Once you are ready to dive in, we want you to have every opportunity and advantage to create a great flight and enjoy your experience. This workshop also offers you a chance to ask your questions about the practice with answers from experienced professionals. Knowledge is the key to unlocking the power to fly.

Basic Bloodborne Pathogen Protection and Sharps Play in Kinky Spaces

Have you seen blood play and wondered how to do this safely in dungeon space? This workshop presents the basics of bloodborne pathogen safety along with the fundamental skills needed to begin your journey. This class covers how to keep yourself and others safe when playing with sharps in a dungeon setting. A discussion of responsibilities and expectations explores the supplies needed and negotiation practices common to blood and needle play. The session ends with a demonstration of the skills needed to begin this kind of play.
